It’s impossible to think about your future when you don’t know what you’re eating tomorrow.
This was the kids’ reality before coming to the orphanage.
After the earthquakes in 2010 and 2011, the country was devastated, both physically and emotionally. Across the country, buildings crumbled to the ground. People who had lost their homes were searching for shelter.
Each child at the orphanage has a unique story about what brought them there. Despite these differences, they share the same theme: they didn’t have someone to provide for them.
Pastor R and his wife A are the founders of our partner orphanage in Haiti. They saw the kids on the street and knew they had to do something.

Partnering in God’s Work: How Uplift Haiti Supports Haitian Children for a Brighter Future
Our partnership with Pastor R and his wife, A, began with a personal connection with one of our board members. Through a previous church connection, Jesse met Pastor and decided to go to Haiti to check it out for himself. After spending a few weeks in Haiti and witnessing the care that Pastor and his wife gave to the previously orphaned children, he knew he wanted to support their work.
At the time, Pastor was praying for additional support. After several years of unofficial support from Jesse’s then-church in Delaware, our organization was created. It was clear that more consistent financial support was needed. Jesse also saw that Pastor R and A were doing the Lord’s work.
Uplift Haiti, Inc. shared Pastor R and A’s vision for the children: that they would flourish as citizens of Haiti and Heaven. Meaning, that their practical needs would be met. This includes getting an education so they can be a productive citizen of Haiti and contribute to their community. Secondly, their vision included the kids being disicpled in God’s Word so they could become followers of Christ through the working of the Holy Spirit. This will lead them to flourish as citizens of Heaven as well as they seek to spread the Gospel to their neighbors and beyond!
It is common to bring kids to the U.S. or other “developed nations” to give them an education. Pastor R and A dreamed of the kids staying in Haiti to contribute to their community. They pray that the kids help to create a better future for Haiti, one with more peace.
Building Brighter Futures: Supporting Basic Needs and Sharing God’s Love in Haiti
We’re passionate about supporting our partner orphanage by meeting their basic needs each month. Resources are extremely limited in Haiti, and opportunities for work are almost nonexistent. Our organization is focused on financially and prayerfully supporting Pastor R and his wife A as they raise the kids in a Christian home.
Kids can’t have a positive future, let alone dream about their future, if their basic needs aren’t met. Without receiving proper nutrition, a safe place to call home, and loving and supportive people around you, it’s difficult to plan for your future!
Thankfully, the kids at our partnering orphanage have all of these things now. They have a safe place to rest and learn. They also get to grow up in a loving home being taught the Word of God. They are also supported in their classwork and personal interests.
The Lord continuously provides for the children and the orphanage. We are praying for additional people to join us in supporting the work they’re doing both financially and prayerfully.
“Breaking Barriers to Education: Empowering Haiti’s Next
Generation with Hope and Opportunity
In Haiti, it’s common for families with multiple children to select one child to attend school each year. It’s just too expensive to send everyone at the same time. We’re dedicated to breaking this trend by sending all of the children at our partnering orphanage to school. Thankfully, all of the children have been able to attend school for many years. We know that the Lord will continue to provide.
School in Haiti isn’t free, which is one of the reasons why education is limited. Every Spring we focus our efforts on raising $20,000 to pay for tuition, books, and uniforms. This is a large undertaking! In 2025 we’d want to have individual sponsors for each child to sponsor them through graduation.

Young adults in Haiti who don’t have an education face numerous challenges. They scrounge for daily necessities. Some attempt to start businesses with minimal or no access to resources. Others seek to leave Haiti illegally in search of work, or they pledge themselves to a gang.
These options sound dramatic, but we aren’t saying them to get attention; we’re saying them because they’re true. Pastor R consistently states the importance of the kids’ getting an education so they can flourish as citizens of Haiti.
While you may be able to get by in the U.S. without an education, that’s not the current reality in Haiti. With a simple search online you’ll quickly realize this to be true by the headlines.

After all, if we view the kids as image bearers of Christ, they are our brothers and sisters in Christ. Why wouldn’t we want the absolute best for them? Especially because they are kids.
Three Pillars of Support: How We’re Helping the Orphanage Thrive in 2025
Our organization is focused on supporting the orphanage in a few specific ways:
- Monthly financial support
- School expenses, and
- Rent
These are the three ways that we can provide holistic support to the orphanage as they care for the kids and maintain the things that need to be done at the orphanage.
In 2025 we have three goals for these areas:
- To increase our monthly support from $3,000 to $4,000
- To have donors sponsoring one child until they graduate beginning with fundraising their tuition for the next school year, and
- Begin raising money for rent early in preparation for next January
If you’re interested in learning more about any of the ways we support the orphanage contact us here. Additionally, we are happy to schedule an online or virtual presentation with a board member so you can learn more about our organization and have the chance to ask questions.
Help support the orphanage in these three distinct ways by becoming a monthly donor, or giving a one-time gift to one of these areas.
