Safety & Information

How we are sharing information without compromising safety

In the last couple of months we’ve had several people mention that they would love to hear more about the children at OMFCA. They want to know what life is like for them, as well as Pastor Romain & his wife Agnes and how they are raising & discipling the children. And, we completely understand!

We are asking people to financially and prayerfully commit to Uplift Haiti, Inc. therefore committing to help OMFCA as they raise the children in the home. But, you don’t know much about them, or their day-to-day life in Haiti, and we know that it can make it difficult to feel connected.

We want to make you more intimately aware of the children’s lives: their age, what grade they are in, their hobbies & what brought them to OMFCA!

We want to give you a glimpse into the day-to-day lives of Pastor Romain & Agnes, and the others that are in the home helping manage the house: what do they like to do, what led them to care for the children, what are their hobbies & how can we best pray for them?

We want to give you all of this information, but we also have to be careful about what information we put on the internet. The unfortunate reality of Haiti right now, is that gangs are ravaging communities and kidnappings are happening on a mostly weekly basis. Our first concern is the protection of the children at OMFCA and the adults that are caring for them!

Information you WON’T see published anywhere online (at this point):

  • Pictures of individual children with names attached
  • Names of children published on social media
  • Exact location of OMFCA in Haiti
  • Detailed pictures of descriptions of the home & surrounding area
  • Where the children go to school & what church Pastor Romain pastors
  • Detailed information about the children & adults that could allow someone to connect them to family members, friends, etc. in Haiti

Again, our decision not to post the information above isn’t out of an intention of secrecy, but 100% done in concern of their safety! The pros and cons of the internet collide when it comes to safety: it’s a great way for us to make more people aware of the great work the Lord is doing at OMFCA, but if we provide too much information to the public, then we are risking the safety of our brothers & sisters in Christ!

All of that to say, we DO want to provide more information to you! We want those who are praying for Uplift & OMFCA, spreading the word about the work that the Lord is doing at OMFCA, and those that are financially supporting the ministry to have more information & feel more connected! Internally we are discussing how to share more information while maintaining their privacy to determine the best way forward.

One place that we will begin to share more details about the children, Pastor Romain & Agnes is in our e-newsletter: Uplift Updates. You still won’t see images of individual children with their names connected, but this is the first place we will begin to share more intimate details.

If you haven’t subscribed to our newsletter, do it now!
