What’s the mission of Uplift Haiti, Inc?

We exist to build a base of supporters that provide resources to OMFCA to help care for the children so that they may flourish as Christian, independent citizens of Haiti & Heaven!

What is the vision of Uplift Haiti, Inc?

We want to walk alongside OMFCA and support their vision to see the children in their care flourish as Christian, independent citizens of Haiti & Heaven! We are walking alongside them in support while they care for the children day in and day out.

Most of the kids at OMFCA lost their parents during the 2010 earthquake, and Pastor Romaine has been caring for these children since then. Pastor and his wife treat all of the kids as their own children and want to give them as normal of a family life as a child would in a traditional family setting. They desire to provide a biblical foundation for the children, give them the opportunity to go to school, and eventually the option to learn a trade to start a business or go to Universite.

Uplift’s vision is OMFCA’s vision!

What is OMFCA?

OMFCA stands for Organisation Maison & Famille Chretienne d’Acceuil. Which directly translates to, House Organization and Christian Family Welcome.

While we don’t like to use the word “orphanage” at OMFCA, for the purpose of clarity, it is a recognized orphanage in Haiti (see our post about the process of becoming a recognized orphanage in Haiti). We prefer to refer to OMFCA as a home, because Pastor Romain and his wife treat the kids at OMFCA as their own children and they want to provide as close to a traditional family situation as they can!

Why is Uplift Haiti, Inc. supporting OMFCA?

Prior to COVID-19, Trinity Church of Smyrna was providing financial support for monthly expenses (food, utilities, etc.) in addition to large special financial needs (a generator, education costs, etc). The plan was to help Pastor Romain and the older children at OMFCA develop skills to open their own business, with the goal of becoming financially independent. This is still the goal, but due to COVID-19, heightened civil unrest and now the earthquakes, Uplift Haiti, Inc. is committed to building a base of supporters to help provide financially for most of OMFCA’s needs. This is a temporary plan while it is nearly impossible for Haitians to provide for themselves due to lack of resources & safety concerns.

Join us in supporting our brothers & sisters in Christ while they are dealing with devastating situations in their country!

What is the role of OMFCA?

OMFCA, rather Pastor Romain and his wife, are the people that are shouldering the responsibility of caring for the children in the home. While we, Uplift Haiti, Inc., are financially supporting OMFCA at this time, they are day in and day out caring for the children as if they are their own.

“Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world” James 1:27

We don’t look to OMFCA as just a receiver of money from Uplift Haiti, Inc. but the front runners of caring for the children and obeying God’s command to care for the orphans. They are loving the children and adopting them into their family as Christ has adopted us into his church. Uplift Haiti, Inc. is running beside OMFCA and hand-in-hand we are working together to provide for the children at OMFCA.

We long for the day we can see all of the children living their life dedicated to glorifying God! We are excited to see the day that the children are all educated and working as Christian, independent citizens of Haiti! We are anticipating the day we can say that all of the children at OMFCA are growing in their spiritual maturity and are discipling others around them!

Join us in this exciting journey in caring for our brothers & sisters as they raise the next generation in Haiti! We pray they become Haitians that are able to lead the way with Christ-likeness and use their skills and talents to pour back into their country!
