It all began with one lady who had a desire to care for the children in Haiti. Her desire to care for these children began a stream of events that the Lord put together, resulting in the formation of Uplift Haiti, Inc., a non-profit with a vision to see the children at OMFCA flourish as Christian, interdependent citizens of Haiti & Heaven.
Now, let’s take a step back and see how the Lord orchestrated Uplift Haiti before it was officially formed:
2017: Pastor Romaine assumed responsibility of the orphanage after being the 1st house parent for 7 years.
2018: Jesse & Jolene Zimmerman went to Haiti together (Jolene visited earlier in the year) so Jesse could learn more about the orphanage and meet Pastor Romaine (current operator of OMFCA)
2018: A few months later, the Zimmerman’s invited Pastor Romaine to come stay with their family for a month, which is when they cultivated a relationship of trust with Pastor Romaine and decided to pursue a partnership with the orphanage in Haiti.
2019: Trinity Church of Smyrna located in Smyrna, DE began supporting the Orphanage in Haiti (which is now OMFCA): both as a church & individual donors within the church
2020: Uplift Haiti, Inc. was formed because the needs of OMFCA became too great for one church to support.
2021: Uplift Haiti, Inc. received their official 501 c(3) non-profit status in the U.S
2021: Organisation Maison & Famille Chretienne d’Accueil (OMFCA) received their status as a recognized orphanage in Haiti
Which brings us back to today. Right now, at this moment.
At this moment, Haiti is experiencing civil unrest, a second wave of COVID-19, and the expectation for the civil unrest to become greater as they approach the presidential election in Haiti.
The children at OMFCA under Pastor Romaine’s care are being affected, just like the rest of the country. With the safety issues, and shut down of local shopping areas they are left with few options to find resources & unable to support themselves.
Uplift Haiti exists to to build a base of supporters that provide resources to OMFCA, enabling the children in their care to flourish as Christian, interdependent citizens of Haiti & Heaven.
Right now, the children at OMFCA in Haiti need our help to provide their basic needs while the country is experiencing heightened civil unrest. Our vision is to assist OMFCA to become self-sufficient in the future, but right now our brothers & sisters in Christ need our help to provide resources to care for the children.
